Aishah & Roy – Batu Pahat Wedding Photographer

Happy hump day everyone! I’m leaving you with a sweet little solemnisation session shot, at one of the prettiest little hall I’ve had the pleasure of visiting, with it’s close relative, great food, and everything. All hidden in between the Kampung Kenangan Dato Onn, Batu Pahat so that it’s still nothing but peaceful and serene.

So while I adored shooting their beautiful ceremony, their wedding was an even more special affair of the heart, as it finally put a close to the cords of serendipity, timing, and friendship that intertwined throughout their years love story, and it began a new chapter full of hope, adoration, love, and an even more pronounced praise to God. I’ve known Aishah & Roy from her brother, Sudin who is my travel companion most every destination I been to before. Sudin’s little sister even more sweeter in real life while Roy is steady-happy-all-the-way-of-his-life kinda guy. That what interest me more to document their big day.

There’s just something enchanted about little intimate weddings that just capture my heart. I know weddings and marriage celebrations come in all forms, sizes, and types, but it’s the small ones that involve just the closest of relative and friends that really give way to what makes weddings beautiful – love, joy, intimacy, familiarity, and companionship. Those are the things that truly make photos beautiful and sparkle. Will post another updates on their wedding day later. Have a good day!

Shahir + Nadia – Mabul Island Destination Photography

Nadia & Shahir are just the cutest. I love how they laugh together and how much they adore each other. They contacted me about shooting their wedding, but I was already booked. Lucky for me, I still get to be part of this journey by getting to document their honeymoon period! I have planned a trip to Mabul island few months ago. They interested to join the trip with us so I arrange the whole trip for them as well. Five days in total which includes 4 islands hopping which is Mabul island, Kapalai island, Bohey Dulang Island & Maiga Island. Islands of Semporna, Sabah was the perfect location to document the early chapters in their lives. Trust me it was such a tiring trip, but all of us enjoyed the whole week.

I love the way they adore each other and just how they really complete each other. I really love how timeless these photos came out. We got there just in time to catch sunrise (yes, that’s early for me!), but it was such amazing light. Sunrise there looks like sunset here in Mabul. The time runs fast so we only had few minutes before it gets hotter. Clear cold sea water makes us wanna swim. And yes we swim all day & night here.

After Mabul, we visited Bohey Dulang island with most mesmerising view on earth I’ve ever seen. They really grateful being up there although we had like 10 stop along the way up there. It was already noon when we reached the hill top. We spent few hours before we went back to the jetty. After lunch, we stop by Maiga island and spent the whole afternoon at this amazing paradise. Check out the beautiful light below. Maiga have great landscape of coconut trees. Glad we bring along fish eye lens borrowed from Yana.

Nadia & Shahir, I am so lucky to have met you both! You two are really amazing people and I’m so honored to document this journey for you! Can’t wait for your next step, a baby girl maybe!

Hana + Azmi – Mabul Island Portraiture

Happy July! Can’t believe we’re about half way through the year already! omg time flies. I really wanted to get this blog post up two days ago, but I just got back from a (fabulous) shoot in Sabah and needed a day to readjust. And yesterday I got 2 sessions of maternity photoshoot. Get comfortable though because this session was well worth the wait! Hana contacted me last few weeks when they finds out about our trip to Sabah. They live in Johor Bahru and just got back from Krabi for their honeymoon. I love how couples have been really embracing destination photos. I love the carefree spirit that only a vacation can bring out. Hana & Azmi brought a wedding dress for this trip. They wanted to feel the warmth of the island and still having the tone of wedding. That’s what I love about my job. But I spare the session for another special blog entry later. So for now I let you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mabul island, Bohey Dulang island & Maiga island. Those there island located in Semporna, Sabah.

Bohey Dulang located in Tun Sakaran Marine Park with tremendous view from top of the mountain. It’s not really high but takes some breath to get 600meters up there. It was an awesome experiences that can never be exchange for anything. We also stop by Maiga island, it wasn’t on the original plan that I arranged but suggested by our fellow friend from Semporna to visit that tiny island. We spend almost 6hrs at the island and mesmerise by the beauty and culture of native people here. And for the brides & groom, they didn’t expect to get in the water with the Bajau Laut boat, but had a blast. We manage to rent a boat from local people and let the couple ride the boat. It was real fun and romantic.

The day ended so beautifully… We head back to Semporna tiredly.

Wedding Photography Package 2013 - Foto by Razali

For bride to be 2013, enjoy than normal rate of my wedding photography package if you book before November 2012. Get RM200 discount for 2 events booking (Nikah+Sanding). Pick your desire dates and submit an inquiry. www.mohdrazali.com/calendar.

Photography is one of those things that seems like everyone dabbles a bit in and quite a few people nowadays own very high quality digital cameras. In an attempt to save money, there is a new trend among brides of having a friend or family member take their wedding photos. While this may initially sound like a good idea, investing in an experienced wedding photographer should be one of your top priorities.

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime occasion. There are no ‘do-overs’, so you need a professional that you can trust. So much time is invested in finding the venue, choosing the perfect flowers and of course making sure your cake is as lovely as it is tasty. After your wedding is finished and you leave your venue, the flowers have wilted and all that yummy wedding cake has been eaten … how will you remember these things? If you’ve taken the time and money to invest in the perfect wedding photographer, you can rest assured. High quality, bright, beautiful wedding photos will be there to help you remember your day! You’ll have photos of your groom tearing up as he sees you walking down the aisle, a vision, in the perfect dress. You can look back upon how happy your guests were chatting, celebrating your day. Every detail from your shoes, his tux, THE dress and even the jewelry you wore will be well documented so that someday you can show your children.

What if, for arguments sake, you decided to forgo hiring a professional wedding photographer and hired a friend of the family to take your photos. He or she owns a digital camera, loves photography and has even taken photos of a few newborns that look great! Wedding photography cannot be THAT much different, right? Wrong. In wedding photography you generally get what you pay for. Yes, there is a chance that you may love the photos of a family friend, but is saving a few dollars on wedding photography worth the risk that you won’t? Wouldn’t you much rather adjust your budget in other details? Great wedding photography is so much more than just owning a high quality camera. Lenses, flashes, backup equipment in case something goes wrong, not to mention the EXPERIENCE of knowing what to shoot when and how are just a few of the important things that a professional will bring to the table. You wouldn’t let your sister’s boyfriend take your tonsils out even though he loves watching E.R., wanted to go to medical school and knows quite a few people who have done it, would you? Just like anything else in life some things are much too precious to trust to anyone but a professional.

Finding the perfect photographer is the best gift you can give each other on the big day. It sounds cheesy but we tell our clients all the time that wedding photos are your first family heirloom. Make sure when you are making the important decision on whether or not to go with a pro that you consider what you are really paying for … memories.

Ainul & Zamri - foto by razali (1)

I have the sweetest portraiture session to share with you. Ainul & Zam are my great friends from secondary school. I’ve known them since ’98 when I first moved to SMK Datuk Menteri. Ever since that day, we have been real close friend until now. Both of them live just few miles away, just like me and my wife. As far I I remember, Zam & Ainul get close together just a few years ago while our classmate visiting Ainul’s house on Eid. I didn’t know they contacted each other after school, so I believe Zam get close with her long after they met. This is fate. They are world travelers and spent most of their relationship long distance. They would meet up in different parts of the world and kept this journal together. I choose a garden picnic theme for portraiture and they pick classic dress for this session.

Raining season start quite early this year. Normally heavy rain begins at mid November, but this year, you can find the heavy rain almost every day. For those bride to be having their reception on this month until end of December, you have to start planning for options.

I always mention to clients try to avoid public or school holidays as your reception day unless you’re going to do it in a hall or hotel. And for those who like a portraiture session, please set the appointment in the early morning and check weather forecast. It is important to get the right weather & time in order to get great results.

The best time for portraiture is 7am to 10.30pm for morning session and 4pm to late 7pm for evening session. But this time schedule doesn’t apply on November & December since raining falls in unpredictable time. Please keep in mind we as a photographer cannot fight the nature. Yesterday I photograph my great friends pre-wedding in a heavy rain. They dance in the rain, I hide under a canopy. Thats how it works. Fun but very limited composition. You’ll see the result in my next entry.

yana harmila – the other side

Apart from being a passionate photographer, Yana Harmila is a dedicated school teacher. I believe not everyone around her knows about this. She teaches a very challenging subject in primary school which takes a lot of her courage to educate. But until now, I believe she’s been teaching for about 6 or 7 years.

I’ve known her for the first time while attending a photography gathering, Ramadhan 2007 is my mind serve me right. Bermula dari situ kami mula rapat dan terus berhubung. Dari situ kami kenal Shazli, Trisno, Jasrizal dan ramai lagi dari kalangan jurugambar. We started to organize photography classes, outing sama-sama, dan kongsi pengalaman. Yana ada hampir dimana-mana sahaja kalau ada outing Shazli. Pengikut setia.

Pada permulaan Yana pegang kamera Nikon D40x, tetapi sekarang dah pun ada Canon 5D Mark II. But I guess she still miss the color of her old Nikon. Every now & then we keep sharing our knowledge. She was the earliest person I know when I first learn how to capture a photos, up until now.

So today we had a moment together after a very long time we haven’t met and talk about photography. I manage to capture few photos of her, so here it is. The other side of Yana Harmila that you haven’t seen before..

zul + dayah { mersing }

30 minutes portraiture session for the birthday boy and his lovely wife. We went to Pantai Rekriasi Teluk Resang, just few more minutes from Air Papan, Mersing lah ekceli. Oh, I hope you guys recognize them from before, my favorite couple ever. Haha.

I was only occupied with 50mm 1.8 all this while. No other fancy prime or telephoto. I keep my 135mm f2 deep inside the pouch. I have bad experience with camera and the beach. Despite the cheap built material, it produced great output. I bought it for just RM290 if my memory serve me right. I love shooting with this lens. My next lens should be a prime lens as well, I hope.

Weather wasn’t so great. It was raining drizzly when we arrived. I heard there was a tornado last Friday near this beach. Glad it was OK by the time we were there. We spent exactly 30minutes for this session. I wish I could use more sun light, believe me, I love available light so much. Unfortunately, my weather forecast lied.

Zul brings us to best satey in town, Satay Teluk Iskandar. Yesterday we also having, but this one a LOT better. Trust me. Who ever passing by Mersing by any chances should try Satay Teluk Iskandar.

izat & azah { batu pahat }

Sepanjang minggu ni cuaca tak menentu. Ada hari hujan tak berhenti, ada hari panas macam dekat gurun. Global Warming. Beberapa minggu lepas masa buat post wedding kat Kelab Golf Batu Pahat, jerebu.

Setelah 6 bulan tak tengok wayang sejar Amsyar lahir. Baru malam tadi pegi tu pun sebab Faiz & Sudin ajak. KL Gangster. Cerita melayu beb. Tengok dengan gangster2 Labis pulak tu Ayom & Amin. Keluar2 panggung je masing-masing dah nak jadi gangster pulak. Paling tidak pun jadi Zizan. Walaupun secara jujurnya aku tak pernah suka cerita2 Shamsul Yusof ni, tapi malam tadi aku terhibur jugak la. Mungkin kali ni filem dia menjadi. Boleh buat aku gelak, boleh buat aku geram. Betul. Alah seminggu dua lagi dah keluar Astro First. So tengok & kritik sendiri.
