Shahir + Nadia – Mabul Island Destination Photography

Nadia & Shahir are just the cutest. I love how they laugh together and how much they adore each other. They contacted me about shooting their wedding, but I was already booked. Lucky for me, I still get to be part of this journey by getting to document their honeymoon period! I have planned a trip to Mabul island few months ago. They interested to join the trip with us so I arrange the whole trip for them as well. Five days in total which includes 4 islands hopping which is Mabul island, Kapalai island, Bohey Dulang Island & Maiga Island. Islands of Semporna, Sabah was the perfect location to document the early chapters in their lives. Trust me it was such a tiring trip, but all of us enjoyed the whole week.

I love the way they adore each other and just how they really complete each other. I really love how timeless these photos came out. We got there just in time to catch sunrise (yes, that’s early for me!), but it was such amazing light. Sunrise there looks like sunset here in Mabul. The time runs fast so we only had few minutes before it gets hotter. Clear cold sea water makes us wanna swim. And yes we swim all day & night here.

After Mabul, we visited Bohey Dulang island with most mesmerising view on earth I’ve ever seen. They really grateful being up there although we had like 10 stop along the way up there. It was already noon when we reached the hill top. We spent few hours before we went back to the jetty. After lunch, we stop by Maiga island and spent the whole afternoon at this amazing paradise. Check out the beautiful light below. Maiga have great landscape of coconut trees. Glad we bring along fish eye lens borrowed from Yana.

Nadia & Shahir, I am so lucky to have met you both! You two are really amazing people and I’m so honored to document this journey for you! Can’t wait for your next step, a baby girl maybe!

Hana + Azmi – Mabul Island Portraiture

Happy July! Can’t believe we’re about half way through the year already! omg time flies. I really wanted to get this blog post up two days ago, but I just got back from a (fabulous) shoot in Sabah and needed a day to readjust. And yesterday I got 2 sessions of maternity photoshoot. Get comfortable though because this session was well worth the wait! Hana contacted me last few weeks when they finds out about our trip to Sabah. They live in Johor Bahru and just got back from Krabi for their honeymoon. I love how couples have been really embracing destination photos. I love the carefree spirit that only a vacation can bring out. Hana & Azmi brought a wedding dress for this trip. They wanted to feel the warmth of the island and still having the tone of wedding. That’s what I love about my job. But I spare the session for another special blog entry later. So for now I let you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mabul island, Bohey Dulang island & Maiga island. Those there island located in Semporna, Sabah.

Bohey Dulang located in Tun Sakaran Marine Park with tremendous view from top of the mountain. It’s not really high but takes some breath to get 600meters up there. It was an awesome experiences that can never be exchange for anything. We also stop by Maiga island, it wasn’t on the original plan that I arranged but suggested by our fellow friend from Semporna to visit that tiny island. We spend almost 6hrs at the island and mesmerise by the beauty and culture of native people here. And for the brides & groom, they didn’t expect to get in the water with the Bajau Laut boat, but had a blast. We manage to rent a boat from local people and let the couple ride the boat. It was real fun and romantic.

The day ended so beautifully… We head back to Semporna tiredly.

Wedding Photography Package 2013 - Foto by Razali

Photography is one of those things that seems like everyone dabbles a bit in and quite a few people nowadays own very high quality digital cameras. In an attempt to save money, there is a new trend among brides of having a friend or family member take their wedding photos. While this may initially sound like a good idea, investing in an experienced wedding photographer should be one of your top priorities.

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime occasion. There are no ‘do-overs’, so you need a professional that you can trust. So much time is invested in finding the venue, choosing the perfect flowers and of course making sure your cake is as lovely as it is tasty. After your wedding is finished and you leave your venue, the flowers have wilted and all that yummy wedding cake has been eaten … how will you remember these things? If you’ve taken the time and money to invest in the perfect wedding photographer, you can rest assured. High quality, bright, beautiful wedding photos will be there to help you remember your day! You’ll have photos of your groom tearing up as he sees you walking down the aisle, a vision, in the perfect dress. You can look back upon how happy your guests were chatting, celebrating your day. Every detail from your shoes, his tux, THE dress and even the jewelry you wore will be well documented so that someday you can show your children.

What if, for arguments sake, you decided to forgo hiring a professional wedding photographer and hired a friend of the family to take your photos. He or she owns a digital camera, loves photography and has even taken photos of a few newborns that look great! Wedding photography cannot be THAT much different, right? Wrong. In wedding photography you generally get what you pay for. Yes, there is a chance that you may love the photos of a family friend, but is saving a few dollars on wedding photography worth the risk that you won’t? Wouldn’t you much rather adjust your budget in other details? Great wedding photography is so much more than just owning a high quality camera. Lenses, flashes, backup equipment in case something goes wrong, not to mention the EXPERIENCE of knowing what to shoot when and how are just a few of the important things that a professional will bring to the table. You wouldn’t let your sister’s boyfriend take your tonsils out even though he loves watching E.R., wanted to go to medical school and knows quite a few people who have done it, would you? Just like anything else in life some things are much too precious to trust to anyone but a professional.

Finding the perfect photographer is the best gift you can give each other on the big day. It sounds cheesy but we tell our clients all the time that wedding photos are your first family heirloom. Make sure when you are making the important decision on whether or not to go with a pro that you consider what you are really paying for … memories.

farol + cake { post-wedding – melaka }

I totally love traveling for wedding. Even if this travel is only near my place, it permits me to actually take in a stunning new scene, and challenge myself to photograph possessions a bit differently. Farol + Cake post-wedding was a beautiful excuse to get away from lovely Ayer Hitam and photograph in one of the most gorgeous historical place in this country.

I think I’m incredibly lucky to have a profession where I get to do what I love. But at the end of the day, I know that it’s my clients, my brides, and my families, which actually make me feel very lucky. Sure, taking photos is fun – but having people appreciate me is somewhat I don’t take for granted and something I am so very grateful for.

Farol & Cake thank YOU for being such thoughtful, caring friends. It was such a pleasure to be there with you and celebrate you two on the most unique day of your lives. I loved being a part of your families and hearing everyone loves words about you both. I hope these photos help you remember the happy, stunning, pleasing day!

Maybe some other times we can come back to Melaka for another visit, for our most favorite mango juice, and the atmosphere.

Noreen & Sofian Pre Wedding (1)

I always enjoy portraiture session. Either pre-wedding, post wedding or even family portraits. It is the most fun and enjoyable kind of work with no stress for formal events.

Today I want to share with you a colorful portraiture session that I shoot last Monday. It was held near Kluang. Sfian & Noreen are a great couple who decided to get married after long journey of their relationship. In just a few weeks time, they will a husband and wife. I always adore seeing a shoot styled, whether its done small and simple or big and grand. Its just such a great way to express your personalities in the shoot and makes the photos so much more personal.

Anyhow, enough rambling! Hope you enjoy this love shoot. I promise wedding photos will be splattered across this blog soon!

Raining season start quite early this year. Normally heavy rain begins at mid November, but this year, you can find the heavy rain almost every day. For those bride to be having their reception on this month until end of December, you have to start planning for options.

I always mention to clients try to avoid public or school holidays as your reception day unless you’re going to do it in a hall or hotel. And for those who like a portraiture session, please set the appointment in the early morning and check weather forecast. It is important to get the right weather & time in order to get great results.

The best time for portraiture is 7am to 10.30pm for morning session and 4pm to late 7pm for evening session. But this time schedule doesn’t apply on November & December since raining falls in unpredictable time. Please keep in mind we as a photographer cannot fight the nature. Yesterday I photograph my great friends pre-wedding in a heavy rain. They dance in the rain, I hide under a canopy. Thats how it works. Fun but very limited composition. You’ll see the result in my next entry.

17th July (Sunday) : 7.30am – 11.00am & 1.30pm – 4.00 PM

cameron highlands trip day 2

The second day. I’m still occupying my 50mm 1.8 lens all this while. Saw those Philippines photographers group brings their most expensive telephoto lenses. I believe they captured more exciting photos there. I think I should change wide angle lens as well, but it just not the right spot and view. My ‘less-expensive-not-luxury-lens’ was so useful after all. Although in some cases I have to merge photos for great panoramic scene, I prefer that way.

Pay RM5 for Butterfly farm at Brincang. Amsyar almost ate of of them! We were riding up to Mount Brincang to go to The Mossy Forest. It was 7KM drive up on the mountain. So challenging for a sedan like mine to get up there. With so much rocky road, it took about 1/2hrs to get there. The weather was great up there. We have to hike the path up upon mossy forest where you can see clouds passing by you. Amazing…

But we couldn’t spent more time up there since Amsyar already getting mad. So we left mossy forest around 12+ and go to Boh plantation. Unfortunately Amsyar already fall asleep while we arrived. So no photos of him at the tea plantation.

We go down to Big Red Strawberry park for late lunch. We had delightful vacation at Cameron Highlands. Will be coming back in two weeks for group vacation with The Exceeded!

freda + moy { batu pahat }

Jerebu teruk melanda semenanjung negara disebabkan pembakaran terbuka neraga seberang. Sejuk, matahari redup, kabus tipis. Aku sukakan scenery pagi macam ni berbanding golden hour petang.

Hampir sejam setengah jugak rupanya habiskan masa kat sini. Tapi tak habis kat sini je. Kitorang pusing2 bandar Batu Pahat pulak. Itulah gunanya local photographer, we always know the best place. Sampai ke bandar, aku dah ada geng. Apai Biszign & Aidil Bachok teman aku. Pusing2 kawasan pasar sampai pukul 11. Apai yang pakar dengan Light Graffiti bagi cadangan buat slow shutter kat tengah2 pasar pagi. Menarik. Itu yang dapat 2 keping gambar last ada ghosting. Apai & Aidil lah yang jadi hantunye. Thanks ye hantu2.
