Anne & Fakhrul Pre-wedding foto by razali (1)

Happy July!  Can’t believe we’re about half way through the year already!  Time flies. I rarely visited my own blog for the pass few months. Been busy with kids, life, mom & works. I really wanted to get this blog post up as early as I can, but I just got back from numbers of shoot in Batu Pahat & Johor Bahru and needed a day to enhanced. Get comfortable though because this session was well worth the wait!

Anne & Fakhrul contacted me last few month when they first got engaged and preparing for their big day. They live in Kota Tinggi and were planning a trip to Ayer Hitam for their engagement photos. I love how couples have been really embracing destination engagement photos. I love the carefree spirit that only a vacation can bring out.

Anne had this dress custom made for our shoot. Isn’t it just the cutest thing ever?? I love that dress she wears! …and Fakhrul was also super stylish. It was really hot & sunny Monday morning so we spent just about two hours before we got burned!

It was fun spending the morning with Anne to come up with a look for the two of them. Whenever I posted a new session that she loved, she would remember me with excitement. Through her saying, I noticed a pattern of what she liked and was able to come up with the perfect style for them. I love the results!

Anne and Fakhrul, it was so great to finally meet you! Thank you for letting me document this part of your life!

Wedding Photography Package 2013 - Foto by Razali

For bride to be 2013, enjoy than normal rate of my wedding photography package if you book before November 2012. Get RM200 discount for 2 events booking (Nikah+Sanding). Pick your desire dates and submit an inquiry. www.mohdrazali.com/calendar.

Photography is one of those things that seems like everyone dabbles a bit in and quite a few people nowadays own very high quality digital cameras. In an attempt to save money, there is a new trend among brides of having a friend or family member take their wedding photos. While this may initially sound like a good idea, investing in an experienced wedding photographer should be one of your top priorities.

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime occasion. There are no ‘do-overs’, so you need a professional that you can trust. So much time is invested in finding the venue, choosing the perfect flowers and of course making sure your cake is as lovely as it is tasty. After your wedding is finished and you leave your venue, the flowers have wilted and all that yummy wedding cake has been eaten … how will you remember these things? If you’ve taken the time and money to invest in the perfect wedding photographer, you can rest assured. High quality, bright, beautiful wedding photos will be there to help you remember your day! You’ll have photos of your groom tearing up as he sees you walking down the aisle, a vision, in the perfect dress. You can look back upon how happy your guests were chatting, celebrating your day. Every detail from your shoes, his tux, THE dress and even the jewelry you wore will be well documented so that someday you can show your children.

What if, for arguments sake, you decided to forgo hiring a professional wedding photographer and hired a friend of the family to take your photos. He or she owns a digital camera, loves photography and has even taken photos of a few newborns that look great! Wedding photography cannot be THAT much different, right? Wrong. In wedding photography you generally get what you pay for. Yes, there is a chance that you may love the photos of a family friend, but is saving a few dollars on wedding photography worth the risk that you won’t? Wouldn’t you much rather adjust your budget in other details? Great wedding photography is so much more than just owning a high quality camera. Lenses, flashes, backup equipment in case something goes wrong, not to mention the EXPERIENCE of knowing what to shoot when and how are just a few of the important things that a professional will bring to the table. You wouldn’t let your sister’s boyfriend take your tonsils out even though he loves watching E.R., wanted to go to medical school and knows quite a few people who have done it, would you? Just like anything else in life some things are much too precious to trust to anyone but a professional.

Finding the perfect photographer is the best gift you can give each other on the big day. It sounds cheesy but we tell our clients all the time that wedding photos are your first family heirloom. Make sure when you are making the important decision on whether or not to go with a pro that you consider what you are really paying for … memories.

jessie + nick { pre-wedding – part 2 }

Will it rain? Will it not rain? The threatening weather forecasts made Jessie + Nick all the more prepared for their lovely pre-wedding on Wednesday… and no; it did not rain (luckily). How could it? These two just spread warmth and kindness, and I’m convinced that their pure will for sunshine made it splendidly beautiful all day long.
Theirs was my last pre-wedding for 2011 – and I am so extremely grateful to them and all of my gorgeous couples this year. Thank you for making 2011 such a joyous 12 months of growth, happiness, delight, success, and and and!!! I’m so excited that I get to end the year with Jessie and Nick and their completely perfect day. A billion thanks.
Foto by Razali is closed until the Chinese New Year… so happiest of holidays to you and yours, and enjoy the festive time off!

jessie + nick { pre-wedding – part 1 }

Part I

If I had my way, life would be filled with live music. Everywhere I’d go, there’d be a guitarist strumming his strings, or a pianist playing her chords. I’d be at the grocery store, picking the ripest, sweetest fruit, and there’d be a flautist playing lovely music in my ear, helping me along with my selection. Wouldn’t life just be so much more amazing with live music? I like to think so.

I met Nick and Jessie on a hot summery day in a raining season, and Nick had an old Olympus OM-1. “Surely it’s a prop,” I thought. But it wasn’t. He snap few photos using that old camera that he brought all the way from Hong Kong for his gorgeous fiance Jessie, while I floated off into a dreamy space where all I saw was beauty and love. It was as if my creative senses came alive whilst listening to Jo’s making jokes to make Jessie laugh. It. Was. Bliss.

Needless to say, looking over these images takes me back to that hot morning; a beautiful couple in love; a quiet acoustic sound filling the woodsy air. Hope you can feel the sounds through these images too. 🙂

A few more series will coming to you soon. Just you wait

see you guys again

Jessie & Nick

I’ve been capturing a lovely couple yesterday that came all the way from Hong Kong. Meet Jessie & Nick. I spend the whole day documenting their sweet moments. Whole bunch of photos have been save and I will post in here stage by stage.

Well, see ya again guys! Have a safe journey!

Noreen & Sofian Pre Wedding (1)

I always enjoy portraiture session. Either pre-wedding, post wedding or even family portraits. It is the most fun and enjoyable kind of work with no stress for formal events.

Today I want to share with you a colorful portraiture session that I shoot last Monday. It was held near Kluang. Sfian & Noreen are a great couple who decided to get married after long journey of their relationship. In just a few weeks time, they will a husband and wife. I always adore seeing a shoot styled, whether its done small and simple or big and grand. Its just such a great way to express your personalities in the shoot and makes the photos so much more personal.

Anyhow, enough rambling! Hope you enjoy this love shoot. I promise wedding photos will be splattered across this blog soon!

Ainul & Zamri - foto by razali (1)

I have the sweetest portraiture session to share with you. Ainul & Zam are my great friends from secondary school. I’ve known them since ’98 when I first moved to SMK Datuk Menteri. Ever since that day, we have been real close friend until now. Both of them live just few miles away, just like me and my wife. As far I I remember, Zam & Ainul get close together just a few years ago while our classmate visiting Ainul’s house on Eid. I didn’t know they contacted each other after school, so I believe Zam get close with her long after they met. This is fate. They are world travelers and spent most of their relationship long distance. They would meet up in different parts of the world and kept this journal together. I choose a garden picnic theme for portraiture and they pick classic dress for this session.

It has been 8 days of Ramadhan. But only 8 days, everyone looks busy preparing for Eid. Raya song played on the radio. Shopping mall already putting up sales. Tailor no longer accepted any kinds of baju raya. Pretty much as usual as before.

This year, I’m celebrating Eid with my dear wife plus our most precious Arif Amsyar. We are really grateful for this gift. Amsyar is almost 8 month old. Busy figuring out how to crawl over the house.

Over this Iftar, I was busy finishing my work. Less than 30% left in progress. Tooks about 2 weeks to finish everything.

Just before ramadhan, I went to Cameron Highlands with Faiz, Sudin, Shahrul Hanafi, Lelen & Chombie. So this is the second part of Faiz & Lelen portraiture session. I hope they can use this ‘pre-wedding’ photos for their wedding day. I will accompany Faiz for his big day next year, I hope.

At the end of the session, we were very hungry, so a friends of Chen Chen (Napi) brings us to very nice restaurant for late lunch. We had western food, beef, lamb chop and some other dishes. I was expecting it would be very good dishes, unfortunately we was wrong. Faiz can’t even finish his lamb, Chen Chen wasted almost half of his lunch, Chombie can’t even swallow her dish.

The owner of this restaurant claimed his strawberry juice is the BEST among others in Cameron Highlands, he even asked me to search on the internet. But sadly it was awful.. Everyone complaints the strawberry juice. Yucks…. Haha.. So don’t trust the owner’s review next time.

Oh ya, we will travel to Pekanbaru, Indonesia this weekend. We will be there for 4 days. If anyone by any chances will be there, let me know. I might catch few photos of you, who knows?

Till then…

alin + faiz – day 1 { cameron highlands }

One way to enhance you idea is by seeing places or things you never look at before. I always wanted not to make same pictures again. By referring to books, blogs & even billboard on the road, I will inspire to do the same thing as they did. So I always challenge my self to get the kind of photos I have never shoot before. There’s a lot of inspiration to make us do better than we have now. Not just local, we should look globally. The most admired photographers are often trying their best to make a different.

A friend asked me how to make people laugh. There are lot of ways to make people laugh. By making provocation, by making fun of them (not recommended sometimes if you don’t know them well), by asking them to do something they couldn’t and by giving them specific instruction that will tie them. At the end, you’ll see different side of them.

When you go to places you never been before, I’m pretty sure you’ll see things that make your photos different. It is not necessary to go some place far away from home. Maybe if you look at your back yard, bush next to your residence, your nearby small town, or even a coffee shop.

But I heard a method that used by a professional to train their apprentice. Print great photos from around the world that inspire you. Every morning you wake up, look at that photos. Just the photos in your collection. Do it for a month or so. You brain will memorize and you can manipulated your memory with that great photos. Good luck!

I had pleasure shooting Alin Rafei & Faiz Salleh portraiture session at The Mossy Forest, Cameron Highlands yesterday and it was a full circle moment. At the end of the night we had toasted to love, happiness and hard work. I am incredibly proud of their effort to make this session success.
